Additional Options

Include intimate elopements in secret pockets of the park, and extravagant, 300-person, after-hours celebrations in front of the Cinderella Castle ($180,000 minimum). You may need a fairy godmother, or three, for that one. Early-morning and weekday ceremonies are typical. In-park ceremonies are limited because of operating hours, and can start as early as 7:30 a.m. and as late as 11 p.m.

The average Disney wedding is about 60 to 80 guests in size. However, you can opt for anything from the Memories Collection, which start at $3,500 and include up to four guests in addition to the happy couple, to the Wishes Collection, with a price tag that can hit well north of $50,000 if you select all the tantalizing bells and whistles available for a large crowd.

Indeed you do, with resort ($4,000) and theme park locations ($4,500) and ultra-desirable sites such as the Magic Kingdom Train Station ($15,000 and up), the Magic Kingdom East Plaza Garden near Cinderella’s Castle ($25,000 and up) and the Magic Kingdom after hours ($50,000 and up). That’s just for the location, mind you. Feeding your guests will set you back $140 per person for brunch, $165 for lunch and $190 per dinner.

Disney’s Wedding Pavilion ($5,000), located on a private island accessible by the footbridge at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, is the elaborate Victorian chapel that far and away is the most popular location for Disney weddings, primarily because of, well, its location.

If you choose Disney for your wedding location, chances are you have a favorite Disney character you would like to invite to the event, and most Disney characters will be glad to make an appearance. You can add $1,275 to the tab for a 30-minute set with one character or $1,795 for two characters. Some characters, of course, are understandably more in demand than others are.

Beyond the famous characters, additional themed Disney entertainers include the Major Domo in full regalia (from $950), the English butler (from $800) and the fanfare of herald trumpeters in medieval garb ($750 for one and $1,275 for a duo). At select locations, couples can also engage a confetti cannon to announce their union or order private fireworks to light up the night sky.

Customized Wedding

In 2013, Disney held 1,500 weddings on its properties. Last year, that number swelled to more than 4,000, with about 11 ceremonies a day globally. That trend is likely to continue, as Disney rolls out live-action updates of its classic films over the next several years.

It doesn’t hurt that millennials are building up the princess fantasy. They’re all about customization and engaging their wedding. I think this generation really is fit for a destination wedding, with multiple days of celebrating, multiple days of gathering with family and friends. It also helps that the park photos make for one-of-a-kind keepsakes and easily shareable social media content.

Disneyphiles can wave their magic wands and handpick an array of benefits, including a white dove flyover ($250), a private fireworks display and dessert party ($2,500), and, yes, a spin in Cinderella’s coach ($2,950).

Captain Jack Sparrow fans can pay $5,000 to $6,500 to book the infamous pirate. Little Mermaid fans can throw an “Under the Sea”-themed fete in an underground aquarium, surrounded by more than 6,000 sea creatures in Epcot’s Living Seas Salon ($1,500 to $4,500).

Disney characters are NOT allowed to officiate or attend the ceremony (although they can come to the reception). It’s an adult event and it should be treated as one. You can hire a majordomo or an English butler to deliver your wedding bands in Cinderella’s glass slipper or on a silver platter (about $800).

Food and beverages must be provided by the park. Brides can’t wear their gowns during theme-park hours unless they pay a pretty penny ($75,000 USD minimum).
