Flight tips orlanldo and Disney World

Getting to and from Orlando Florida to visit the Magic Kingdom and other theme parks may involve a flight for many of our travelers. To help you get the most out of your trip, here are a few recommendations and tips to consider when booking airfare to and from Orlanldo.

You’ve Got A Choice of Airports

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the main hub for visitors to Disneyworld, but the smaller Sandford International (SFB) roughly 40 minutes north of Orlando may be a better option. Larger airport tend to have higher fees tacked onto your ticket. So if you flying with a family of four, you might realize some large savings by checking a smaller airport. Tampa International Airport (TPA) is just an hour and a half away.

You Can Sleep Comfortably – At The Airport

Did you know there’s a hotel inside of Orlando International Airport? There is a Hyatt Regency conveniently located on the airport grounds. If you’re flight arrives late in the evening, consider a stay here for the first night, especially if you’d had long trip. You’ll be better rested for your first full day in Orlando, and the Magic Kingdom. The airport and surrounding areas can have traffic at all times of the day and night, meaning you should plan to give yourself time. Sleep might be just what you need in those first hours.

Book Your Orlando Vacation Package – Then Your Fight Separately

There are many ways to save money on travel when you book a vacation package, rather than by purchasing each item separately, but there’s also some risk when you include your flight a vacation package. Hotel, car, and activity reservations tend to be a lot more predictable than air travel. Weather and software issues ground whole fleets of planes, but having a hotel room available is usually a safe bet.

When you book a flight as part of a vacation package, only the 3rd party you booked it through can make changes or cancelations. That means if you’re stranded at the airport, the airline usually won’t be able to help you. Another reason to book a flight separately is that airfare is typically not the part of the package that you get a break on. It’s usually the hotel and/or rental car.

That’s why we recommend that you stick to packages that include big perks and don’t include airfare. This way you can save a lot and have a bit more transparency as to what you paid for.
